Nagthali Gyang Weekend Trek

A genuine Kathmandu weekend escape — depart Saturday morning, back Sunday evening. DAY 1 (Saturday) — Catch a public bus from Gongabu/Machhapokhari (departs 6–7 AM, NPR 650–750 one way) or share a jeep seat. A 7–8 hour scenic drive through Nuwakot and Rasuwa brings you to the Chilime area. Optional hot-spring stop at Tatopani Kunda en route. The vehicle drives close to Nagthali; a final 1–2 km uphill walk (~1 hour) delivers you to the guesthouses at 3,165 m. Settle in, watch alpenglow paint Langtang Lirung gold at sunset, and refuel with dal bhat. DAY 2 (Sunday) — Wake before dawn for a 2–3 km hike to Taruche viewpoint (3,725 m). Clear mornings reward you with a sweeping panorama: Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), Ganesh Himal I–V, Paldor Peak, and on exceptional days the distant Annapurna massif. Return to Nagthali for breakfast, then trek down to the road and drive back — Kathmandu by Sunday evening. Total hiking across both days: ~10–12 km, 5–6 hours on trail. No technical skills required; the long mountain drive is the real challenge, not the hike. Entry permit: Langtang National Park fee — NPR 100 Nepali / NPR 1,500 SAARC / NPR 3,000 foreign. TIMS card also required (NPR 200 Nepali / NPR 1,000 SAARC / NPR 2,000 foreign). Licensed guide mandatory.
