Bajra Barahi is a 17th-century tantric temple dedicated to the boar-headed Goddess Barahi, set within a small protected sacred forest in Chapagaon, southern Lalitpur. Built in 1666 AD during the reign of King Shree Niwas Malla of Patan, the gold-plated deity stands on two buffaloes with four hands — venerated by both Hindus and Buddhists. The surrounding forest harbours 166 species of flora including rare orchids, and 48 species of birds including the Crested Serpent Eagle, Bengal Green Pigeon, and Blue-throated Barbet. It is simultaneously a bird watcher's haven, a peaceful picnic spot, and an active pilgrimage site.
